The name of my business is Kane Accounting and Financial Coaching. Since I mainly blog about accounting and bookkeeping topics, you may be wondering, “what is the financial coaching part about?”
To explain that, we have to take a brief trip back to 2016. I was no longer preparing tax returns and was trying to figure out what my next step was going to be. I knew I had a passion to help independent contractors and small business owners get their business’s records in order. I also had a passion for helping individuals and families get their personal finances in order. This passion was born out of the Dave Ramsey Financial Peace University classes that my husband and I lead from 2011 to 2017 at our church.
So in April of 2016, I attended the Ramsey Solutions Financial Coach Master Training class in Nashville. That class was a mountaintop experience! Getting practical advice for walking alongside families to get out of debt, save money, and build wealth changed me forever. I knew I wanted to help people manage their finances better so when I got back home, I started Kane Accounting and Financial Coaching.
In 2017, however, it became clear that the bookkeeping side of my business had grown so much that I needed to focus on it and no longer offer the financial coaching services.
So, while I had a long-time passion for financial coaching and helping people find freedom through getting their finances in order, I chose to focus my business entirely on bookkeeping. I now refer most clients who need financial coaching to a local nonprofit organization, Freedom 5:One, which I want to tell you more about today.
Freedom 5:One, founded by my friend Chris Haas in 2010, has the vision to transform “the financial destiny of families to help fulfill the Great Commission.” He does that through the organization’s mission, which is to “set God’s people free from bondage to freedom by investing in the financial health of families in Northwest Arkansas and around the world.”
Simply put, Freedom 5:One is a faith-based non-profit that helps guide families (married couples and singles) to live a more balanced life through helping get their finances in order. Financial coaching can have an impact on every aspect of life and at every stage of a person’s life.
I knew Chris first through my family’s church, Central United Methodist in Fayetteville. He started the Financial Peace University classes and asked my husband and me to co-lead them. We ended up coordinating two classes a year.
So, why Freedom 5:One? I love their overall mission because I believe that people won’t care about hearing about Jesus until their basic human needs are met. And financial security is part of making that happen. Chris and his colleagues are all top-notch, knowledgeable financial advisors who have a Biblical basis for everything they do.
I'm excited to tell people about Freedom 5 one! I refer folks to them whenever I can and I even donate a percentage of my profits every year to help further their mission. If you are feeling stressed and burdened with financial problems, check out their website or social media pages and give them a call.
